Long-Term Health:
How You, the Environment, and Your HVAC Installation Relate to One Another
You may not think that your air comfort system and installation can keep you on the forefront of the most important and widespread trend in the world today – but it can. Most importantly, it can help make you part of the solution to the global community’s greatest challenges.
Our planet and all of us on it are experiencing what environmental experts call “Carbon Constraint,” meaning the earth cannot take much more carbon being released into the environment without disastrous results. Therefore, all of us – in our personal lives and in business – need to be more strategic and thoughtful about the energy consumption causing the release of carbon dioxide into our atmosphere. In other words, we are “Carbon Constrained.”
The trend is so pervasive that businesses around the world are being analyzed by investors for their “Climate Competitiveness,” and if businesses are not well positioned to compete without producing unacceptable levels of destructive carbon emissions, then their valuations are suffering downward pressures.
Whether at home or in the workplace, every time your air conditioning and heating system turns on, the power to operate it is supplied mostly by fossil fuel-burning energy plants that release harmful carbon into the atmosphere, causing the largest part of the environmental problems we face today, mainly global warming.
Therefore,reducing your energy consumption is one of the most important steps you can take to be a part of the solution to our world's most pressing challenges.
An effective maintenance program for your air comfort system will significantly reduce your home or office energy consumption and will pay for itself through energy savings, extending the life of your air system, and decreasing the cost and amount of repairs needed.
The proper installation and balancing of a high efficiency air comfort system will reduce your energy consumption to the greatest degree and will pay for itself through energy savings.
Committing to a high efficiency air comfort system and choosing an effective preventive maintenance program is the choice that will make the most significant impact on your energy consumption and savings compared to most other decisions you make, and will therefore determine your impact on the global environment more greatly than almost any other decision you make.

Facts and Trends That Demonstrate the Increasing Importance of Energy Efficiency and Energy Consciousness*:
- California has passed a law requiring that new cars reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% between 2008 and 2016, and that total emissions should be reduced to 1990 levels by 2020.
- The National Association of Homebuilders estimates that green building will account for between 5% and 10% of all housing starts in 2010, which is an increase from 2% in 2005.
- In January 2007, a group of companies including Duke Energy, General Electric, Alcoa, Lehman Brothers, Pacific Gas and Electric and others called for a 10% to 30% reduction in greenhouse gases over 15 years in a U.S. Senate hearing, saying that federal regulation should come sooner rather than later.
- Wal-Mart is in the middle of a 3-year plan to reduce energy use at stores by up to 30%;
- Goldman Sachs (the most respected investment firm in the U.S.) requires the measurement and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions attributable to its internal operations;
- Cities and counties around the U.S., including Williamson County and Davidson County in Tennessee, have amended their building codes to regulate the energy efficiency of lighting, allowing no more than 100 watts of lighting per 100 square feet.
- The U.S. lags other countries in regulations associated with energy efficiency and emissions, and as such, regulations associated with energy efficiency are likely to become more severe in the coming years.
- The growing awareness regarding energy efficiency and how it relates to our environment and climate is making energy efficient choices popular and energy-wasting choices extremely unpopular, both for people and businesses.
- Wal-Mart CEO Lee Scott comments on the necessity of a quick reduction in greenhouse gases: “It will save money for our customers, make us more efficient in business, and help position us to compete effectively in a carbon-constrained world.”
